1st Esty Team Challenge!!!

As I've stated in a previous post, I have joined an awesome group of crafters on Etsy, Indie Free Spirits Team!! They are all such nice people and I've only been a part of the team for less than a month. I joined just in time to participate in a virtual lab and we were given a team challenge.
We have to make a craft/art piece representing our favorite song. 1st place winner gets an interview that will be posted on our team blog and the team leader's blog, and a mini Etsy page that will be posted for 3 weeks on both blogs also.

I love so much music. And I mean a ton of music!!!!! But the first song that popped into my mind was Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd! I've always loved that beautiful breakup/love song. It's a bittersweet kinda song to me, representing how I felt about a lot of issues in my life. To me, I feel it explains how I want to just be my own person, be free from everyones' expectations, and find happiness even though I know it'll hurt some people I love.

Since I chose Freebird, the bird must be the centerpiece, right? This is my duct tape swallow bird. Isn't it cute?!? I'll update more as this piece grows. I hope to win, or at least get recognized!!!

Karma Bows! A New Idea of Donating

We all know what Karma is. What goes around comes around. How you live this life, whether building good or bad Karma, affects you present, future, and even your next life.
I've always had a dream to give to charities. Yes, it's an actual dream of mine; to give proudly and receive nothing but positive vibes for myself. So, I decided to create Karma Bows™

Karma Bows™ is a collection of bows in my etsy shop that I'll donate a large amount of funds to certain charites I feel strongly for: Locks of Love, CureSearch for Children's Cancer, and The Hunger Project.
I'll have to do a lot of research of how to go about it, the correct way of donating. I wonder if there is a way to show the public how much money is being donated to charities, and if there is a way to prove my honesty. I've done some google researching but haven't found much help... So more researching for me. :D yay....
Karma Bows™ will be coming soon. :D

Wanted: Crafting Buddies!!!

I just read this awesome post on my new Etsy team's blog, Indie Free Spirits. It really inspired me to reach out and break through this hermit shell I've crawled in. The idea of getting together for a fun craft day with local crafters who have the same passions as me just makes me feel all fluttery inside!! :D
So, I figure my first stop will be to find Etsy teams that are for groups living in my local area.
Then I'll search for local shops and venues! I remember this really cute place called Book Box that sold art and crafts from local artists! I dont know why I didn't even think of it before!!!!

Ok, I'm off to make some friends! :D Wish me luck and awesomeness!

My tree of enlightenment is beginning to shed its leaves...

Ok... ok.. I'm going through an emotional thing right now... I'm not sure if I'm doing the whole promoting my products just right... I think my stuff is awesome, very cute, and unique but when people hear it's made from duct tape I wonder if it takes it down a notch. Does duct tape have a bad rep? Does duct tape = trashy? I figure a new fresh idea would be enlightening and cool... I mean, does art mean less when it's made out of duct tape? If anything, I think it should be held to a pretty high standard. It's not the easiest medium to work with, ya know.
Eh, I'm just doubting it. I really enjoy making things from duct tape. I just don't know how to express that love to others...
I need help...
I also need tips on taking pictures of my products. I can't seem to get the light just right, because duct tape is so shiny and reflects every light. Erg...
I appreciate all of the support though and it's just a rough patch I'll soon get over.

I love Autumn

Autumn is a beautiful word, dont you think? Beautiful weather, beautiful season, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Mmmm... I can't wait for those yummy mashed potatoes and better-than-sex pie. ;)
With this wonderful new season change, I was inspired with a new idea....

I decided to use a new technique to add some texture. As you can see, I used hundreds of little circles of duct tape to create this autumn leaf. I really like it. It's different.

I'm planning on using this duct tape art for the centerpiece of a Sticky Fashion™ hair accessory... More updates on it later. :)

New Bow Design!

First of all, I need to comment on my new model. I bought her at Hobby Lobby for only $5. If I had a printer, I could have received 40% off, but eh. Oh well.
I found her awesome flowy wig at Wal-Mart for only $8. I went to other Halloween stores first, and wigs cost up to $20-$30, and I wasn't down with that.
Anyways, so that's her. I have an idea to buy craft masks from Hobby Lobby and paint them to give her a different face now and again. Feel free to paint her a face for me and I'll put it on her. :)

Ok, now for the new bow design that you can see in the pic above.

Yay!!!

Yeah I'm excited! Plus I found some really awesome new duct tape patterns at Wal-Mart. :D
